The UN Pact on Migrants Will Encourage Immigration, Not Contain it

Le Pacte de l’ONU sur les migrants va encourager l’immigration au lieu de l’encadrer FIGAROVOX/TRIBUNE, 21st November 2018. A United Nations Pact “for safe, orderly and regular migration” will be signed by many countries, including France, in December. Yves Mamou fears that the text will deprive the signatory States of their sovereignty, by elevating the right to migrate to the status of a Human Right.

A text dealing with immigration is being drafted within the framework of the United Nations. Cloaked in fine sentiments, it is in reality a means of exerting moral pressure on Western countries, argues the law historian Jean-Louis Harouel, Professor Emeritus at the University Paris-II Panthéon-Assas. Jean-Louis Harouel has published a notable essay, “Human Rights vs. the People” (Les Droits de l’homme contre le peuple, Desclée de Brouwer, 2016).
